Electric Air designs and builds Redwood, a variable-speed ducted heat pump made to replace a gas furnace. We sell it two ways: installed in your home by our own crews here in the Bay Area, and direct to HVAC contractors who install it for their customers. We're also a licensed California C-20 HVAC contractor, so what we learn on our own installs goes straight back into the product.

Redwood is our ducted heat pump, in 2 and 3 ton sizes. The outdoor unit and a slim 19.8 inch air handler go where your old AC and furnace were, so there's no closet rebuild. It runs on a variable-speed inverter compressor and low-GWP R32 refrigerant, rates up to 21.0 SEER2, and ships with the Canopy smart controller.

Cost is the biggest reason more homes don't have heat pumps. A typical US install can run $15-30k, and in Australia a homeowner pays around half that for a similar system. Much of the difference is distributor markup and equipment that was never designed for a quick swap. Redwood is built to fix both: we sell it direct, and it's designed so two techs can replace a furnace in about a day.

A heat pump is like an air conditioner that can run in reverse, both heating and cooling your home. An air conditioner moves heat from inside your home to outside. A heat pump can also do the opposite, moving heat from outside air into your home, even when it's cold out. Because it moves heat rather than burning fuel to make it, a heat pump can be 300-400% efficient. That's better for the planet and can lower your energy bills. Most homes can replace a gas furnace with a heat pump today, and it's a great way to add air conditioning to a home that never had it.

Older ACs and heat pumps could only switch fully on or fully off. An inverter heat pump like Redwood continuously varies its compressor and fan speeds to match what your home needs. The result is higher efficiency, much quieter operation, and more even temperatures.

Redwood is rated at 55 to 57 dBA outside and as low as 40 dBA inside, depending on size. That's between a quiet office and a normal conversation, and quieter than the furnace it replaces. A traditional single-speed AC runs around 75 dBA, about as loud as a busy street.

In the Bay Area, easily. Redwood delivers full rated heating output down to 5°F and keeps running down to -13°F. We size every system to your home so it stays warm all winter.

PG&E electric rates are high, but on the E-ELEC rate plan a heat pump typically costs no more to run than a gas furnace, and it gives you air conditioning too. Your quote shows estimated savings for your home.

From your address we pull square footage, year built, number of floors and climate zone to estimate your home's heating and cooling load. Combined with data from our own Bay Area installs, that lets us size the right Redwood for your home. Most contractors who come on site rely on rules of thumb that aren't as accurate as our software.

No. Your price is firm once we've completed our site visit, no matter what happens during installation. And if the firm price comes in more than 10% above your initial estimate, we'll refund your deposit if you decide not to go ahead.

Our own in-house technicians, the same crews whose feedback shapes Redwood. We occasionally work with installation partners to deliver projects faster. Payment, service and communication always come from Electric Air.

Redwood is designed to run on the panel most Bay Area homes already have. We check your panel capacity before installation, and if an upgrade is needed we coordinate it with an electrician for an additional charge.

Redwood comes with a 10 year parts warranty, and our standard labor warranty is 2 years, extendable to 10 years. If something goes wrong, you call us: we made the equipment and we installed it. Starting in January 2027, Canopy monitoring will also send system health straight to our team, so we can catch issues before you notice them.

Usually, yes. Incentives depend on your existing equipment, your utility, the efficiency of the new system, your residence type and more. We check every incentive you qualify for, highlight them in your proposal, and help with the paperwork.

Electric Air accepts payment online via Stripe or in person by check. We're also an approved contractor for California GoGreen Financing and Westlight Energy Financing. For personal loans, Upgrade offers home improvement loans up to $50k with next-day funding once you're approved.
